Nascent democracy of Iraq under attack

A suicide bomber having made his way through several layers of fortified security struck at the very institution that is expected to usher democracy in a nation yet to come to terms with the aftermath of a long drawn Iraqi dictatorship.

Three Members of Parliament along with 5 others killed and more than 20 injured in the suicide attack has shaken the foundations of the nascent democracy in war torn Iraq.

The message sent out is chilling

The US may be making a last ditch effort to provide security by sending more troops, but on the ground none can protect you from us. We have strike capability even within the most secure zones of Iraq.

The Green Zone area where the Iraqi parliament is located is among the most secure pieces of real estate in the land today. US security forces along with Iraqi forces man this zone.

Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s interim government has failed to restore order in Baghdad itself, let alone the countryside and the Iraqi parliament is yet to come up with a power sharing formula that could accommodate conflicting interests of the Sunnis, the Kurds and the Shi’ites.

Plucking out American style democracy and attempting to transplant it in the desert country is easier said than done. Four years down the road that President George Bush took to discipline an errant dictator Saddam Husain, and liberate a land ruled by the iron hand has only helped to create a lawless society.

Surely, America has condemned the daring attack. Senator John McCain, a 2008 republican presidential hopeful, is pragmatic when he considers that the suicide attack is aimed at hitting the morale of an emerging democracy and is not unexpected.

Insurgency may be rife in Iraq but fate of the implanted democracy wrests with the lawmakers in the US senate. No matter how vehemently the democrats oppose President Bush’s intervention in Iraq, they realize the stakes are too high to be brushed under the carpet. The democrats have a myopic target of winning the 2008 US presidency election and president Bush’s botched up foreign policy appears to be giving away the high office on a platter to his rival party.

In a region where monarchies have restricted the growth of democratic societies and powerful western democratic nations have conveniently overlooked the suppression of human freedom, so as to ensure ‘oil’ supplies, rooting a democracy in Iraq is bound to face utter resistance.

Iran, with its Islamic model of democracy that it founded after ousting an old established monarchy in 1979, is already in the eye of the storm since then. Not having found acceptance among other neighboring Islamic nations, Iran pursues a dubious nuclear program to firmly establish its sovereignty and claim its position in the region.

Unless the interests of the Sunnis, the Kurds and the Shi’ites are not reconciled and the neighboring countries are not restrained from interfering in the functioning of the shaky government, democracy is as good as doomed in Iraq. The beefed up security measures that the US plans to put in place have already been torn to the shreds by increasing number of suicide attacks as daring as the one that has hit at the heart of the sprouting democracy.

usa has taken iraq unintentionaly and we can also believe it was sadaam and kuwaits behavior that iraq was first embargoed with air space siezure and with prior warning rom the uno..now when you are ighting without a point of view in this world the weaker party is announced victim..the us does not really have to be smart or extra intelligent to reform iraqi arabs but only to keep conveying its democratic rut.
all irqi governments us appoints have failed and there are no physical intellectual relief ...
as far as the everyday calender is being published ,that is upto the world leaders who are members of senior regime activity like trades of international stage..international rug trade, international weapon trade, and similarly smuggling etc and for example killings and terrotism have been exposed in india/pakistan as state controlled...iraqis want a full break ,a break out from the daily torture and stagnated life.but usa is not solution instead jokes come from thier profiteers like halliburton who failed to rebuild iraq and similarly tony blair was hooted in eeu when he claimed ’we will be building a city’ because the estern alliance is not poor and war torn ,the economy is booming and society is florished..today europeans are richer than indians even ,who ae benefactors of every establishment of delux production allover europe..the table has turned but thier is the question of asian african regimes who fed europe all the blood wealth and class of india through the 55 years of european reconstruction untill they and thier chilren are only benefactories and populations of africans and india have been impovershed,,it takes hours to recouperate a long jail sentene and indian marant is as hot to buy away any chance of marketting and trade controls and already gold and diamond have shifted but oil has become a barrier...

Very rightly said,” Unless the interests of the Sunnis, the Kurds and the Shi’ites are not reconciled and the neighboring countries are not restrained from interfering in the functioning of the shaky government”.
That’s what each unstable and war torn country need to realize.
The suicide attacks, be it the one at the parliament or in the streets of Iraq are equally condemnable.

The shites and sunnis have no history of battling that much as killing..the Islamie police itself should be considered but no europeans or americans have built any confidence to discuss affairs..you must know Naina that Henry Kissinger and Jk Galbraith are the authors of terms like’Islamic world’ etc..The Killing and bombing is done by International drug and Weapon Dealers and Mediteranean Bosses are quite big chaps..

The shites and sunnis have taken to killing as the only resource available to be heard.
And the interests of the people there have to be common so as to restore democracy in its real sense. Unless, it won’t be possible.

But all the unrest and non completion of political issues is because of the stubborn regimes ,who are not warned by europe instead they destroy full nations.Already when military dictators now want cash aid they have been advised by maastrict to rely on gun trade openly..so call a civil war and enjoy national resources ..any wonder why Nepal sri Lanka hate congress party and blame them for internal disturbances..

All the unrest can not be singly accredited to the stub born regimes, the measures adopted by USA are to be equally blamed.

US is doing no good...

And the US is not being affected any how, the people of Iraq are the ones who face the brutual realities..

the present world is running on a ’busiest schedule’Naina , but that does not belong to the transatlantic zionist unity supporters states[us uk isr fr ] and even tony failed to help Chavez with globalisation and the scedule doesnt allow certain falls that were Western Alliance ’s exclusive Perks before but today Western alliance is not decision makers ,The World Bank,WTO Asian Dev Bank have all taken position ..
Pakistan benifitted rom Democratisation and now doesnt face the author..Sameway Nigerea has benifitted but they immediately emaled rough set of advice to collect cash ad soon i will meet them........
There is no reason to expect that a political decision can made over a Revolution ,the whole world has to wait and see what happens..Do not expect results...

THe western alliance may not be the decision makers but they do influence decisions...No doubts about that.

The World Bank, WTO, ADB etc...too are not that powerful and still function under US influence.

The revolutions are tend to happen, either peacefully or this way...

Solution is easy if both the party(Shia & Sunni)continue with the same pace of killing then no body will be left and there will be no problem not a trace of the problem.

I was reading Naresh, and im sure about the news being a hoax or lie...

Even in Iraq i dont believe in the ’rivalite essentielle la mort ’ but i know there were two policies apart from another that were bred during pakistani military dictator and president zia ul haques regime rule..zia was a favourite of white house and the day his p[lane burnt down the economist back page advertisement announced that a c130 cannot explode by itself...................zia organised 1 sectarian killings and terrorism. before zia there is no example of terrorism except that the congress supporters in north west occasionally used in ordinary public ,there wernt any high profile killings etc....
zia organised another social disaster called’menhais ulqom ’ lathargic pessimistic nation’ both worked, however the third policy had already brought zia into power ’opting lower and non olympic races over olympic races in pakistan[somekind of a balance with dehlisecularists ]..............but pakistan is a world power amongst the muslim/arab states because of its closeness to us whitehouse and its being covred by british jobers rom uk ,will claim being pakistanis..and arabs being aladoon when it comes to the occidentale......
before sadaam the or lebanon then never ...shites and sunnis have no clerical distance except the rule distance from mughals dehli to shahs multan wont accept each others fatwas..
